Salman Khan lectures at Acting classes

May 10, 2008 |13:00 | Gossips | Interviews  By : Team X

Salman Khan has acted in a wide range of roles. After a romantic turn in Maine Pyar Kiya, which catapulted him to fame, he has experimented with comic genre (Partner, Mujhse Shaadi Karogi) and serious, sensitive roles like ‘Khamoshi’ and ‘Hum dil de chuke sanam’.

Asked what he has taught his students about acting, he says, “Nothing. To be an actor, you don’t have to know acting. There is nothing in acting, except that you should not follow anyone.”

“I told the students that they should look good, go to the gym everyday and that people should notice them. Acting is something that will come to them on its own. If people look at you, that means you have it in you,” said the star.

He shared with the students his experiences of the days as a struggling actor and his journey to be a superstar. He also shared his experience of working with notable directors like Sooraj Barjatya, Sanjay Leela Bhansali, David Dhawan and Subhash Ghai.

Salman Khan’s lecture on acting was filled with fun, which students enjoyed a lot. In between acting tips, he used to narrate interesting jokes and anecdotes.

SRK:I'm not important person

May 9, 2008 |11:35 | Gossips | Interviews | Scandals  By : Team X

Shah Rukh and success have become quite synonymous with time proving the winning mettle of the King Khan in Bollywood.

The star has now become an ideal for youth struggling for winning a place not only in the film industry but also in other sectors. Let us know about the recipe of success from the King Khan himself. Is it ‘luck’ or ‘hard work’ that is required for attaining success?

“See, success, with me, looks easy as I always prefer to stay smiling. Actually, while pursuing success, one always has to keep in mind the negative outcome of his effort.

Now, take for example a bad guy. While he does something for his business, does he think of it as executing bad things? Not at all. Actually, he looks out for his justification and then never feels bad for anything he does.

In the same way we also can do anything keeping in mind the positive aspects of the matter but at the same time we cannot forget the disarraying aspects the project can lead us to. You must witness the increment in your confidence while you convince yourself for something positive.

Being so positive, you do perform better, too. We always try to make things better in our lives despite knowing the fact that we all are going to die one day. Every morning we get up from the bed thinking about getting better things, then, can’t we follow the same process in our job also?

If we can do something with this intensity success will never be a far cry. As far as the role of luck is involved, I would like to say that hard work is needed to satisfy luck, also” explains Shah Rukh.

Aamir wants to work with Big B, Salman

May 8, 2008 |12:13 | Gossips | Interviews  By : Team X

Bollywood actor Aamir Khan spoke candidly to South African journalists from Mumbai about his accidental debut as director in his latest film, Taare Zameen Par, which opens worldwide this Friday, and his views on educating children today.

Explaining his role as an unconventional teacher who helps change the life of a child with academic problems, Aamir said the film does reflect on traditional teaching methods and their efficacy or otherwise.

"It's about a kid who has a passion for painting but faces a lot of difficulty in his academic life. It's a story about his life and his relationship with his art teacher, which is the role that I play, by changing his life through caring and understanding. That is the key message of the film - that with caring and love you can actually do a lot," Aamir said.

"The film is also saying that each of us has got strengths and each of us has got weaknesses - children, adults, everyone. With love and care you can address any weakness and it is our duty to encourage kids in what is their passion and what they love doing to help them to grow," the actor said.

Promos and trailers at cinemas in South Africa show his character doing some rather unconventional things for a teacher, like jumping on the table and shaking his rear at the kids as if to tell them "Get rid of these stereotypes about people".

Asked about this, Aamir said: "I think my character is very open-minded as a teacher. He doesn't believe in the rigid authority of what is conventional education.

Acting students of Whistling Woods International were in for a surprise when they had Salman Khan, the super star come in as a guest speaker. Salman shared his 22 yrs experience of his existence in Bollywood with the students and how he has retained himself for so many years.

He regaled the students with his wit and shared the secrets of being a star actor than just being a good actor. He emphasized on physical fitness, look, style and personality along with quality acting which they are learning now at WWI.

He gave alot of tips to these actors of tomorrow and emphasized to them not to imitate any other actor as then you will always be number 2.

If you copy then you can never be a star but will always remain a copy of the star. He said that a good actor impresses you with a good role in a good film whereas a star attracts you always, even in a mediocre film.

He also shared his experience working with various directors including Sooraj Barjatya to Sanjay Bhassali, David Dhawan and Subhash Ghai now. He said, “All have different styles of working and I adopt each director’s style to give my best.

Every actor has to know and understand the director first before he starts working with him. That’s how he can justify a director’s vision. Never try to think opposite of what the director is thinking, it will harm the film”.

while speaking on personality grooming he said that, “An actor has to be a good human being first , not a pretentious good human being. He must be humble to people even though he exhibits attitude of a star”.

He further added, “ A actor must spend alot of time and care for his body and face coz this is the only instrument with any actor to play the role and to exhibit his talent of acting on big screen”.

'Stop targetting Shah Rukh'

May 3, 2008 |11:07 | Gossips | Interviews | Scandals  By : Team X

Irked over the Union Health Minister Anbumani Ramadoss trained his guns on Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, censor board head Sharmila Tagore took a dig at him saying the Minister should focus on real issues.

After asking actors to quit smoking on screen, the Minister took Bollywood head-on over alcohol. It may be mentioned that on Wednesday, Ramadoss had pointed out that movies were frequently showing 'drunken' scenes as a tool of humor.

He specifically targeted Shah Rukh Khan's rendition of a drunken junior artist in the movie, 'Om Shanti Om'.

Ramadoss lashed out at actors portraying scenes of consuming alcohol to drown their sorrow. He had expressed pity that these actors have been idolized by the country's young and old.

When quizzed about the Union Health Minister's stance on the issue of alcohol, Sharmila Tagore said, "First it was about smoking, then he spoke about chips and now alcohol.

I think what is primarily very important now is that he should focus on real issues like fake medicines. There are a lot of drugs that are fakes and it's a known fact, which is actually causing a lot of problems."

While Sharmila Tagore's ire against the Health Minister isn't that unexpected, especially after Ramadoss took a dig at her son, Saif Ali Khan, for endorsing Lays Chips and even went to the extent of citing the actor's heart attack in relation to his brand endorsement.

With SRK taking potshots at the Minister and Sharmila Tagore also making her ire public, it looks like that the Minister's popularity stakes in Bollywood are declining.
