Salman Khan is the undisputed entertainer of the Hindi film industry, says Shahid Kapoor, adding he would not even try to emulate his favourite actor. "I don't think anybody can be Salman Khan. And I don't think anybody should try and be like him. There is only one Salman Khan and I am sure he is not trying to be like someone else," Shahid told reporters when he was asked if he wants to be an entertainer like Salman.

"I am a huge fan of him and enjoy his work. I am not trying to be someone else and I am trying to create an identity for myself," the 31-year-old said. Shahid's next release is director Kunal Kohli's Teri Meri Kahaani and he has been paired with his former rumoured girlfriend Priyanka Chopra in it.

New Delhi: After the opening episode of the Aamir Khan-hosted Satyamev Jayate that focussed on female foeticide cases in the country became a talking point with the Rajasthan chief minister Ashok Gehlot himself meeting with the star to apprise the latter of the state's endeavour to put an end to this practice, Rajasthan's minister of state for health Rajkumar Sharma hit back recently, saying that Aamir was doing this just for money and not out of real concern.

The minister also added that Rajasthan was being unnecessarily targeted though its performance in this regard was better than many other states. "He (Aamir) himself has said that he is an entertainer and cannot work longer on one topic, that simply means what he is doing is for monetary gains. If he really wants to work on this issue then I welcome him to work here on ground," Sharma said.

It was not right on the part of Aamir to highlight Rajasthan as the only state where the cases of female foeticide are rampant. "There was an impression that the government has swung into action after Aamir Khan's campaign but to clarify, I would like to highlight that the government is already working for the same. Budget announcements to check foeticide are there and several other steps are being taken," he said. Aamir had met the Rajasthan chief minister and demanded that judgments pending on cases related to female foeticide be fast-tracked.

Shah Rukh Khan, who is often referred to as the King of Bollywood, obviously doesn’t need any introduction in the country but the star is dealing with a pretty upset schedule these days, especially due to the Indian Premier League as he own Kolkata Knight Riders team. Khan, now 46, while talking to the media expressed his feelings and revealed how difficult it is for him to manage cricket and his film shootings. However, Khan said it all in an indirect way!

Talking to the media during an event in Mumbai, Shahrukh said, “What hectic? I fly in my private plane. I’m a fu***n’ superstar man! I live in a presidential suite. I go cheer for my team, wish them luck, I get to chat up with people outside work and I enjoy it.”In the meantime, Khan also confirmed the news that he is making a sequel to ‘Ra.One’, which was released last year.

The Indian science fiction superhero film ‘Ra.One’, which was directed by Anubhav Sinha, did an excellent business at the box office. The film set the records for the biggest single-day net revenue and the biggest three-day opening weekend earned by a Bollywood film. Nevertheless, many out there didn’t like the movie much but Khan is a very though person in term of wanting to do certain things. Shahrukh Khan in an interview to a leading daily said, “Yes, I want to make Ra.One 2. I believe that our company has the best VFX unit in India. It would be a big waste if we don’t utilise it to push the parameters of what we do in India.”

Khan said, “Many people didn’t seem to like Ra.One (laughs). I am a very resilient and a tough person in terms of wanting to do certain things. It’s difficult to make such films. They are very expensive and involve a lot of hard work. But I believe in the adage, ‘no pain, no gain’. Surely, I need to make it.”Well, all said and done, let’s see how much Khan entertains this time with the second instalment of ‘Ra. One’.

Bollywood star Aamir Khan's TV show Satyamev Jayate, where he deals with sensitive social issues backed by statistics, has surpassed his own popularity, indicates a survey on online Google searches. The first episode of Satyamev Jayate was aired May 6 on Star Plus. Its concept was kept under wraps till then, but now it has become a winner thanks to issues like female foeticide and child sex abuse, and the way Aamir conducts the show.

According to Google India, the country's netizens are searching more for the show as compared to online hits for 'Aamir Khan'. In a search through Google Insights, a service to find out about trending issues, it has been found that between the keywords Satyamev Jayate and 'Aamir Khan', the show is said to have attracted more people over the past seven days.

As per available data, the show's popularity seems to be capturing Madhya Pradesh the most as it is driving the most number of searches. Rajasthan is next on the list, and Gujarat takes the third spot. Also, popular search keywords related to the search are Satyamev Jayate Download and Satyamev Jayate song.

Shahrukh Khan’s dream home Mannat seems to be in trouble yet again. This occasion the case is associated with environmental violations as nearly 20,000-sq metre seven-storey home fell with the Coastal Regulation Zone.

A leading newspaper has revealed that the Mumbai Pollution Control Board has says that the actor didn’t furnish docs that proved they’d coastal regulation zone clearances when checking the place. Amit Maru, an activist who’s been battling with the environmental regulations being flouted by SRK’s home said: “The CRZ mapping, demarcation of high tide and low tide lines, as well as the development design of the municipal authority wasn’t available.”

Maru mentioned further: “But during inspection it was very clear that the property is in CRZ and thereby they should have had clearances from the respective authority. But they didn’t give it to the officials, which is a breach of section 10(3) of the Environment Protection Act, 1986.”

The Supreme Court in March this year dismissed a request by Maru and activist Simpreet Singh claiming that a particular house couldn’t be cited to nail celebs. Both had claimed gross violations of environmental and archaeological guidelines in the design of Mannat.

So Aamir Khan's show has dealt a blow where it hurts the most. Are the makers of Kaun Banega Crorepati running scared? Maybe they'd be obliged to invite a few more tortured ravaged women to the hot seat to discuss their predicament with the empathetic host?

Like the 'see' of humanity last Sunday I also set aside my work (compared with Aamir's crusader's role, quite negligible, I have to admit) to watch our most influential contemporary entertainer don the mantle of the social reformer.

Or was it a mask? I ask, because after watching one miserably manhandled woman after another troop unobtrusively into the posh studio(air-conditioned, and insulated from extraneous noises) to speak in horrifically dispassionate tones of the tortures they've suffered, and survived to tell their tales, I wondered, was Aamir really getting the point? Could he feel the full or even partial impact of what these women had gone through for not delivering a male heir?

Much as we all love Aamir's jihadi spirit, I don't think he even began to grasp the enormity of women's pain and suffering. Aamir's expressions were a dead giveaway. Towards the beginning of the nightmarish recollections of lives lived on the edge, a lady with an expression that gave nothing away, said she went through 9 (or was it 10?) enforced abortions because Pati-dev wanted a beta.

So what does Aamir do when he hears the woman say she been thus so brutally commoditized for patriarchal purposes? He rattles of biological data on how the male partner determines the sex of the child.

Yeah, knowing that really helps women who get mauled and killed for delivering baby girls. Then Aamir did something straight out of his movies. He covered his mouth with both hands....a very common gesture of dismay in our films and one that Aamir probably used in Rakeysh Om Prakash Mehra's Rang De Basanti when, say, Soha Ali Khan's boyfriend died in an aircrash. It's an expression that method actors practice in front of the mirror .

Playing the role of reformer is not easy. Aamir has mastered the art. Sadly the mastery showed up on camera on that historical Sunday morning. His influence in the field of cinema is undoubtedly exemplary. And honestly, if I had to choose one entertainer to take us through the horrors that pervade lives in non-urban cultures I'd choose Aamir.

He has the clout. And the gravitas. Lamentably he just couldn't bring enough genuine feeling to the table when he spoke to the victims of female foeticide in the first episode of his long awaited serial Satyamev Jayate.

And it's not entirely his fault. The role of the crusader seemed to have been embossed on his sleeve rather than his soul. The lines were rehearsed, as they had to be. You can't film misery without pre-written lines. And that's where the difference of perception crept in. The women who had suffered hadn't rehearsed their lines. Their appalling experiences seeped out of their lacerated souls. The tears had dried up. Unfortunately the camera doesn't respect invisible tears. Our host had to keep that in mind. TRPs are important too, you know.

It's too early to say which way Satyamev Jayate would finally go. The first episode, though brave and thought provoking, was disappointing in its lack of genuine connectivity between the host and the victims of social atrocity. No doubt Aamir has his heart in the right place. Not even the hardest cynic would doubt his sincerity of purpose.

But Aamir just doesn't get it. To get a feel of murk one needs to step personally into the slush. At the moment Aamir is happy to be just watching the show from the sidelines. Maybe in the coming weeks he would plunge into the Great Indian Muddle Class to actually feel what those wretchedly tortured lives felt when they were forced to kill their babies. Or boys who are forced to sleep with producers to get roles in Bollywood. I 'm hoping one of the forthcoming episodes would deal with that.

At the moment Satyamev Jayate looks like a product of elitist conscientiousness . It may grow into the movement that Aamir hopes it would. Hope, after all, is the Indian middleclass dope for survival. Giving away the whistle-inducing fee he has received for anchoring this praiseworthy show to the victims who play stellar roles in the show, would certainly shut up the cynics.

When Oprah addresses unhappy lives she brings to the studio years of charitable work and a kind of keen apprehension of the mechanics of gender and fiscal prejudice. Aamir doesn't quite fit in. The spirit is willing. But the connectivity is weak.

It seems all's going to get well between the two Khans. According to a tabloid report, long time foes Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan will come together to celebrate their pal Karan johar's birthday on May 25. The report said that the bash that is apparently called 'Naughty @40' will be a lavish affair with Bollywood A-listers attending the do.

The rumour doing the rounds is based on the fact that Karan has been getting quite pally with Salman off late, so Sallu bhai might show up at the event where SRK's presence is unquestionable being Karan's closest buddy. However, this is not yet confirmed.

According to the latest buzz, arch rivals Shahrukh Khan and Ajay Devgn might work together in a film. The film would be a masala entertainer and would be directed by Ajay's best friend Rohit Shetty, while Shahrukh's best friend Karan Johar will produce it.

A source close to both the filmmakers told a leading website, “Since Karan is known to give a free hand to his directors, the film Rohit makes will be his kind of action comedy with some romance and emotions as well.”

Reportedly, before Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna, Karan Johar wanted Ajay Devgn and Shahrukh Khan to cast together in a film. He even approached Ajay Devgn with the script, but the plan of bringing both the actors together failed. After Karan, Rohit Shetty expressed a desire to work together with Ajay Devgn and Shahrukh Khan.

Post Singham, Rohit Shetty said in an interview that he wants to cast Ajay and Shahrukh together in his film. An Industry insider says, “Both Ajay and Shahrukh are open to the idea of working together.

But of course, keeping in mind the kind of actors they are, the script also has to be that strong to require their on-screen face-off.” Well, we are desperately waiting for the formal announcement because a film which will star both Ajay Devgn and Shahrukh Khan would be a treat to watch!!.

Rakhi Sawant has done it again! This time she claims that Aamir Khan’s much talked about show, Satyamev Jayate, is a copy of her show, Rakhi ka Insaaf. Excerpts from the interview:

You have been saying that Satyamev Jayate is a copy of Rakhi Ka Insaaf?
The show is a complete copy of Rakhi ka Insaaf. They (the production house) have stolen our concept. The format of my show was similar. There was a point when I was so disturbed after meeting the various people who came on the show with their problems, that I had to be hospitalised, since I was suffering from depression. My show was shifted to a late night slot because of its mature content, but it still registered good TRPs. On the other hand, just because Satyamev Jayate has Aamir Khan, the show is being aired in the morning slot and people are talking about it.

How do you like Aamir’s show?
I have nothing against Aamir. He is a great guy and I am indebted to him for life. He stood up for me at a time when there was nothing good going for me. In fact, he should be made PM of the country. Seriously, he is genuine and does intelligent work. My only issue is that if Aamir Khan decides to do a show like this, it is termed social work, but if Rakhi Sawant anchors a similar show it is termed as business and a means to garner TRPs. The courts will interfere in my show and say that ‘Lets solve these issues’ we don’t need a show for this. Aren’t these double standards? I don’t have problems with the remuneration, — Aamir Khan gets Rs three crore for doing this show and I got Rs five lakh for it! Many news channels have earlier hit on these subjects but there was no fast track code set up by the government and I am no one to comment on this. There is nothing original about Aamir’s show, because Rakhi ka Insaaf had already done all that. Logon ko rulaana bahot aasan hai, but to take corrective action and bring about a change in society is difficult! Such shows only play with people’s emotions. When Aamir does a show like this, he is applauded and when I do a show like this, they say item girl kya insaaf dilayegi? Having said that, I want my show to be brought back with a sequel.

Are you aware that after this, people will call you a publicity hound?
Rakhi sabko buri lagti hai kyunki main hamesha sach bolti hoon. But I am not afraid of anyone, because at the end of the day, truth finally comes out. My plea to the masses and authorities is only about creating objections and issues when I anchor a show like this. The industry will never cease to show double standards.
