Director Anil Sharma and producer Vijay Jalani have auditioned scores of newcomers to break the deadlock, but a face that appeals to Salman has eluded them.

Salman, 42, likes the idea of being paired with a new comer, in the manner similarly aged Shah Rukh Khan is being paired with 19-year-old model Anushka Sharma in Yash Raj Films' Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi.

Finding a newcomer who appeals to Salman could prove to be as long drawn a task for Sharma as finding Anushka was for Aditya Chopra, and Sharma acknowledges as much.

"We are looking for a pretty girl and are unable to find one. We are having auditions in different places trying to find the girl. Salman is also helping us with the process," he told Mid-Day, confirming Salman's involvement in the process.

Veer is a period drama set in 1880. Conceived off as an epic, it is budgeted at Rs 75 crore and is being bankrolled by Erose International. The story idea for the film came from Salman though others have been involved in developing the screenplay.
