Shah Rukh Khan The choosy King?

July 31, 2008 |11:12 | Gossips  By : Team X

Shah Rukh Khan continues to be in the news. Earlier this month, SRK and bad boy Salman Khan allegedly almost came to blows at Katrina Kaif’s birthday party held at the posh Mumbai restaurant Olive. This was apparently over SRK’s alleged refusal to make a guest appearance in Salman’s forthcoming Main Aur Mrs Khanna.

The King Khan is now accused of delaying producer Viveck Vaswani’s long in the making Dulha Mil Gaya. Vaswani diplomatically denies any Khan hassle: “Any big film would take its own sweet time to be completed. Only a few scenes with SRK remain to be canned. One song with SRK remains and we can shoot for it whenever his dates permit. We are not in a hurry.”

Apna Bollywood is unshakably secular!

July 30, 2008 |11:36 | Gossips  By : Team X

It is an industry where Muslim musicians compose Hindi bhajans, and Hindu actors happily play devout Muslim characters.

The boundaries of religion (if any) blur in Bollywood, the most splendid mirror of Indian secularism. Competence and creativity have always scored over religion in apna Bollywood right from the times of Suraiyya and Noorjahan to the days of Salman Khan and Aamir Khan .

In a country where majority of population comprises of Hindus, we can acknowledge with pride that the Khans have ruled the film industry for decades. Pride because the audiences don’t see talent under the label of any religion. Pride because when fans applaud an Aamir Khan movie or when they dance the ‘Dard-e-disco’ with Shahrukh Khan , they don’t think of the God these stars pray to.

Bollywood unites behind Muslim actors

July 29, 2008 |16:10 | Gossips  By : Team X

Outright condemnation or tight-lipped silence. India's film fraternity Monday united behind its Muslim actors  including the four Khans Shah Rukh, Aamir, Salman and Saif -- who have been threatened by the little known Indian Mujahideen outfit that has also claimed responsibility for the Ahmedabad blasts.

The group has purportedly written an email stating that Muslim actors must stop working in films immediately or face death. The email was received Sunday, a day after 21 blasts killed 50 people and injured 200 in Gujarat's main city Ahmedabad.

Prashant Pandey, writer of Ram Gopal Varma's "Contract", an action thriller that released last week and is said to be uncannily similar to how the Ahmedabad blasts played out, said it was unfortunate if actors were being targeted in the name of religion.

"An actor has no religion. One cannot categorise an actor on that basis. His persona is different as an individual both on and off-screen," Pandey told IANS.Renowned director Aziz Mirza, whose "Kismat Konnection" has just been released, said terrorists must be cold shouldered.
